About Charlotte
Charlotte is a theatre director from the East Midlands, currently based between Derbyshire and East London.
She’s drawn to theatre that’s complex, political, awe-inspiring, irreverent and a good night out. Making work collaboratively while balancing care and wellbeing is important to her, and she aspires to make theatre that explores the world we’re living in and the worlds we might create. She often works with new writing, and has also acted as dramaturg on both her own directing work and independently.
She’s made work at the Globe Theatre, Park Theatre, Camden People’s Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse, Derby Theatre, the North Wall Arts Centre, and has been involved in projects at the Young Vic, the Farnham Maltings Arts Centre and the Pegasus Theatre, Oxford. She’s worked with Broccoli Arts, Jessie Anand Productions, Ellie Keel Productions and Atticist Theatre company.
Charlotte is part of the 2026 inaugural Royal Court Theatre Assistant Director Pool. She was the recipient of an Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practise grant in 2021, and spent the following years training and developing in creative wellbeing and sustainable theatre practice. She was a New Associate with New Perspectives Theatre Company in 2023-2024, and the resident director on Dr Hailey Bachrach’s Shakespeare and Consent project from 2021-24, which cumulated in a Research in Action at Shakespeare’s Globe.
She has trained with the Wardrobe Ensemble, Intimacy for Stage and Screen, on the North Wall Catalyst Programme, and with Lisa Cagnacci at Morley College. Charlotte is certified in Mental Health First Aid and is DBS checked.
Charlotte is currently developing “Sad Bride” with Charlotte Merriam, supported by imPossible Productions.
Alongside her directing work, Charlotte has worked as a fundraiser for charities including Arts Emergency and the Young Vic Theatre.
